This is to announce the recruitment of Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) at elementary schools, junior high schools and compulsory education schools in the City of Tsukuba.

Period of assignment

    From April 1st, 2022 to March 31st, 2023

Place of work

    Elementary schools, junior high schools and compulsory
    education schools in Tsukuba City

The number of new hires

   Around 30


    ①Overall assistance in English activities and classes
    ②Making English lesson textbooks
    ③Assistance for Tsukuba English/Foreign language Presentation Contest
    ④Assistance for English (foreign language) teacher training program
    ⑤Assist educational programs on international understanding
    ⑥Cooperation for extracurricular activities such as club activities
    ⑦Assistance for children who are from or spent a lot of time in foreign countries
    ⑧Any other work related to the enrichment of English education and promotion of
      international understanding

Working hours

    Monday through Friday(except Saturday, Sunday and National Holidays)
    7 hours and 45 minute per day between 8:00am and 5:00pm(includes 45 minutes break)
    8:30am to 5:15pm (including 60 minutes break) in case of working outside of school such as
    during school's summer break.
    ※You may be required to do overtime work if the principal deems it to be necessary


    ①Person whose mother tongue is English or equivalent ability in English
    ②Academic knowledge equivalent or higher than bachelor's degree
    ③Japanese language proficiency of about N4 (Grade 3) or higher
    ④Having a valid Japanese driver's license issued by a Prefectural Public Safety Commission
    ⑤Being a registered resident of Japan and having a visa with proper working permission


    ※ Commuting allowance, regional allowance, year-end bonus and overtime allowance
        will also be paid.


    Health insurance, employees' pension, employment insurance and coverage for accidents
    in line of duty.


    The application should be written in Japanese by the applicant and should be submitted
    in-person or sent by postal mail to Educational General Affairs Division with documents
    to be attached, at the latest by Tuesday December 21st, 2021.

Documents to be attached

    ①Copy of both sides of the resident card or other certificate which clearly shows
       the eligibility for residence in Japan
    ②Copy of both sides of the valid driver's license issued in Japan
    ③Copy of certificate of graduation from university/collage

Schedule of the examination

    A written examination (in Japanese and English) and interview will be conducted from
    the beginning to the middle of January (2022).
    The detailed schedule will be notified to each applicant.
    If you have any of the following conditins, you cannot be interviewed on the day.
    Please contact Educational General Affairs Division.
    (1) Have a cough, fever or symptoms of a cold
    (2) Traveled abroad within 2 weeks
    (3) Had a close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19
