Mt. Tsukuba Geotour at Plum Grove

Did you know that at the end of the last year, Mt. Tsukuba Area Geopark Project finally passed the screening of the Japan Geopark Network. So, now we have an officially admitted geopark in our region.
What is a Geopark?
A geopark is a region that contributes to sustainable development of local areas, promoting education and tourism while conserving "geoheritage", landforms and giological features that are scientifically precious or aesthetically appealing.
This Mt. Tsukuba Geotour at the Plum Grove will surely be your good start for exploring the Mt. Tsukuba Area Geopark. Why not take a chance to learn about one of the characteristically worthy geoheritage in Tsukuba? In and around the Mt. Tsukuba Plum Grove (Tsukuba-san Bairin), you will find the dramatically rare scenery of rocks and Japanese plum trees and flowers together. The tour will be given with English guides. Outfit and Things to Bring: Shoes appropriate for hiking, drink, a hat, a towel and rain gears

Getting Around Mt. Tsukuba Plum Grove:
Take the Mt. Tsukuba Shuttle (chokko Tsukuba-san shuttle) at Tsukuba Center (TX Tsukuba Terminal) and get off at Mt. Tsukuba Shrine (Tsukuba-san Jinja). It takes about 40 minutes from the station to the shrine. Walk from the shrine for about five minutes. The bus fare is 720 yen.
If you want to go by car, go 20 km up to the north, which takes about 40 minutes. Take the route on the map. Park your car at City Toll Parking No. 1 or No.3. The parking charge is 500 yen per use.
Note: Green letter 分 beside the numbers in the map means "minutes". Ex. 32分 means 32 minutes from Tsukuba Station.
