Map of Radiation Levels of Public Day-care Centers, Kindergartens, Elementary and Junior High Schools (Updated: Dec. 19, 2011)
Maps made from radiation measurements at public day-care centers, kindergartens, elementary and junior high schools are posted below (in Japanese only). Considering the long hours children spend in these areas, if the radiation level measured near ground level exceeds 1microsievert/hr, the city undertakes decontamination measures. Other decontamination activities are also being undertaken with the help of parents and guardians.

Radiation Measurements for Tsukuba Rice (updated: October 17, 2011)
Radiation measurements for rice produced in Tsukuba showed no trace of radioactive Cesium in the brown rice. The investigation performed by Ibaraki Prefecture on September 9, 2011 showed no trace of radiation on rice from 20 places in Tsukuba. As a result, Tsukuba rice is now available for sale.
The samples were sent on September 6th and 7th from 20 places in Tsukuba. (1 sample each from former town or village) to the Ibaraki Prefectual Environmental Radiation Monitoring Center. The result showed no trace of Cesium 134 and 137. This indicates there were no radiation or radiation level was below the detection limit (Radioactive Cesium 20Bq/kg). Provisional regulation of radioactive Cesium for grain products is 500Bq/kg.
For questions or inquiries, contact the Agriculture Division at 029-883-1111.
