Community currency is a concept that is being used in various communities around the world. Some kind of currency is distributed, often as a reward, in a community and it can generally be used to buy goods and services in that community. It can be used to effect social change by rewarding good behaviour, and it is also a good stimulant for the local economy. In Tsukuba, a local community currency called "Kusa no Neco2 Chippu" has been created by Tsukuba Mahoroba (http://www.tsukumaho.net) to reward people for decreasing CO2.
