The fare for a taxi is based on the distance. The fee is 660 yen within 2km (small taxies are 640 yen). Over 2km, 80 yen is added every 279m (small taxies for every 279m), or 80 yen is added every 1 min. 45 sec. at the speed of less than 10 km per hour. Between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. there is a 20% late night surcharge.

To Catch a Taxi

  1. Call a taxi company.
  2. Wait at a taxi stand. (Taxi stands can be found at Tsukuba Bus Terminal, hotels, or large hospitals.)
  3. Hail a taxi by raising your hand.
