The 53rd International Speech Contest in Japanese (updated Jan. 13, 2012)
People from around the world will discuss their opinions regarding International Society. This contest has been held since 1960, and will be broadcasted on NHK television. In addition, the contents of the speeches will be used in the junior high and high school textbooks. This year, the contest will be held in Beppu City, Ooita Prefecture, on June 2, from 13:00 at Beppu International Convention Center, B-con Plaza.

The 21st Speech Contest for Foreigners (updated Nov. 11, 2011)
15 contestants wanted to give a 5-minute-long speech in Japanese on a theme which helps further deepen international understanding. (Must not involve political, commercial, or religious propaganda)
